By far my favorite place to go any night of the week. My friends and I started going there recently and we couldn't be any happier. Tipp Hill's finest offers us a great selection of beer and mixed drinks as well as good company and a staff that never fails to amaze me.
Most people I know from the Syracuse area frequent Armory Square but you'll find me up at Coleman's any day!

Can't comment on the food, as I've never had it, but in a city where you can't trip without falling into an "authentic Irish pub", it says something that Coleman's is widely recognized as being the most "legit" in the area. The Coleman family are friendly and know how to run a bar. Service varies depending on who you get, but swing by a few times and most of the guys behind the bar will remember your face and your drink of choice.
They have a new band every Saturday and Sunday night... all of whom seem to play the same "hits of the 60's-thru-90's" setlist (barring a couple of groups who actually write their own tunes). On Sunday evenings they often have Irish bands come in and play.
For smokers, they also have one of the better smoking patios in the area. It's still freezing during the winter, of course, but at least it's covered.
Coleman's ranks second only behind Awful Al's on my list of bars to spend time at in Syracuse.

Hands down my favorite bar in New York State. I would be buried there if zoning allowed.
Everything folks have said about the place is true in the extreme. The bar atmosphere is warm and friendly and Pete Coleman and family are the best in the business. Don't believe me? Check out Pete's brother's place in Washington, DC - a little bar called The Dubliner.
True the place is overrun by youth in the evening but what great bar isn't?
Bottom line - Coleman's is what all bars should be and so seldom are.

Back on a great Saturday afternoon to watch the Travers horse race (my horse won, of course, being ridden by Pat Day!) and smooze with the other locals at the bar and Dennis Coleman and Adrian. In addition to Crescent City Brewhouse (New Orleans), this is our Cheers bar. Love the atmosphere, the Irish music, Sports on the many TV's, terrific popcorn, friendly personnel. Wish Pete had been here today, also. Love the Syracuse Pale Ale, but wish they could get back the Middle Ages IPA, or why not the Middle Ages Highlander. Gee, that would work well in an Irish bar, wouldn't it? The service was pretty slow until Andrew showed up. Usually is better every time. All in all, the finest neighborhod bar in the world!

I make it to Coleman's at least once a year, and it seems to be heading in a direction other than I would like. A spent a long Saturday afternoon and evening there recently. The young gentlemen behind the bar were adequate, but could use some training in customer service. I always had a properly-poured Guinness delivered to me, but no smile, "Where ya' from," or anything. Finally young Dennis Coleman came in later on and took a genuine interest as to who his patrons were. I had a delightful conversation and look forward to the next trip out in a couple weeks as a result. But - the band they had in that night that I waited patiently to hear was about the worst I ever heard. Unless they did some Irish tunes after I left, all I heard was garage-band crap that might work with the Junior-high crowd.
